Gregory Longenecker

Gregory Longenecker

summer night
his bicycle leans against
his brother’s
the things I think
I can’t do without
lunar eclipse
afternoon light
the plovers talk
of leaving
some days
I just listen …
mute swan
oak limb –
holding the sleep
of nestlings
shameless
I keep looking at her
first camellia
the gospel according to a winter wren
I wake to the smell
of someone’s sorrow
wildfire
wet leaves
the slippery path
of memory
morning
the slow silence
of a snail
